Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is an extra layer of security for your school account. It combines something you know (your password) with something you have (a unique PIN code) to make sure no one else can log into your account.
Path 1: Setting up MFA with PIN Only
Use these steps if your screen automatically prompts you for a PIN with no other options.
-
Log in to Classlink: Go to the Classlink login page and sign in with your school issued username and password.
https://classlink.gcisd.net -
Enter your new PIN: You will immediately see an MFA setup screen. Type the PIN code you want to use into the box. Make sure it is a number you won't forget!
- Click Save. You will be automatically redirected to your main Classlink Launchpad. Setup is complete!
Path 2: Setting up MFA with Mobile or PIN
Use these steps if your screen asks you to choose a method.
-
Log in to Classlink: Go to the Classlink login page and sign in with your school issued username and password.
https://classlink.gcisd.net -
Select PIN: When the MFA setup screen appears, select PIN from the dropdown menu.
-
Create and Save your PIN: Type in the PIN code you would like to use. Important: Choose a combination of numbers you will remember, as you will need this PIN every time you log in from now on. (Do not confuse this with your regular password).
- Click Save. You will be automatically redirected to your main Classlink Launchpad. Setup is complete!
How to Log In in the Future
Every time you log into ClassLink moving forward, follow these quick steps:
- Enter your regular school username and password.
- When prompted, type in the MFA PIN code you created during setup.
- Once entered correctly, your Launchpad will open automatically.
Troubleshooting & Help
| Keep it Secret: Never share your MFA PIN with friends, just like you wouldn't share your password. |
| Locked Out? If you forget your PIN or get locked out, do not guess multiple times. Please contact your campus librarian to have your authentication reset or reach out to the help desk. |
